How was this document made, and why should I trust the process?
The Piqued Manifesto 1.0.0 was produced under formal governance from first draft through publication. This page documents the complete trail — development sessions, pressure tests, and the decisions that shaped the final text.
Principles demonstrated
Understanding — the process of making is documented so the compact can be understood in context. Transparency — every significant decision has a recorded rationale.
The Timeline
Seed Observation
While working on ML-powered endpoint protection at Cylance, the gap between "it works" and "I understand why it works" surfaced as a systemic problem. Users treated machine learning as magic — trusting outputs they couldn't explain. The question that would eventually become the manifesto's core stance began here: what happens when people rely on machines they don't understand?
The Pattern Goes Consumer-Scale
ChatGPT launched. The same dynamic observed at Cylance — trusting what you can't explain — was now playing out with millions of consumers. People citing AI the way they once cited Google: uncritically, confidently, and often incorrectly. Dunning-Kruger and confirmation bias, observable at scale.
The Guardrails Problem
Anthropic released Claude. The rapid proliferation of capable AI models made the governance gap undeniable: without structured practices for human-AI collaboration, critical thinking would erode. The question shifted from "how do people misuse AI?" to "what would governed collaboration actually look like?"
C² Formalized
Drawing on years of development process work — including GitLab workflow design — Curiosity Driven Development was formalized as a practice. By April 2023, Context joined as the second pillar: Curiosity and Context Driven Development (C²). Thousands of hours across every available AI model, local and commercial, made the context and memory problem the central engineering challenge.
First Manifesto Draft
The Piqued Coding Manifesto was formally drafted around November 2023 — the first attempt to codify the principles, the oath structure, and the C² methodology into a single document. Alongside it, roughly six chapters of a C² book were in progress. At this stage, the scope was software development.
AI Explored Launches
AI Explored: The Human’s Guide to the Future — a podcast exploring how to preserve human judgment in an AI-saturated world — released its first two episodes on April 18, 2024. Ten episodes were produced through September 2025, covering automation bias, AI hallucinations, disinformation, healthcare, and data protection. The podcast was the public-facing channel for the ideas that would become the manifesto.
Collabynt
After Episode 5 (July 2024), product development on the Collabynt suite became the primary focus — building the orchestration layer that would make governed human-AI collaboration work as software, not just as philosophy. Security and integrity of the data became the central engineering problem.
The Line
The first working line of the manifesto was written: "We are not here to code with vibes. We are here to build with understanding." It was later revised for professional tone, but the stance it encodes — that understanding is not optional — remains the manifesto's opening position.
The Universal Pivot
The framework's scope expanded from software development to any field where practitioners collaborate with AI. Software development became the first domain profile (piqued-coding) rather than the entire scope. The Piqued Coding Manifesto became the Piqued Manifesto. The same governance structure that works for software applies to healthcare, legal, consulting, education — any domain where decisions need to survive the people who made them.
Independent Path
After exploring external funding, the decision was made to build independently. The full body of work — manifesto, methodology, protocol, product suite — would ship on its own terms and timeline.
Migration to Claude
The entire body of work migrated to Claude as the primary AI collaboration surface. Formal pqdx governance was applied retroactively to all prior production work. The publication phase began.
Full Manifesto Produced Under Governance
Session pqdc-cc:S036. The complete Piqued Manifesto was produced through a governed production methodology. Seven principles in lifecycle order, bilateral oath structure, conceptual callouts, and failure modes were authored and locked.
Five Companions Produced
Session pqdc-cc:S037. The C² Methodology one-pager, the Translation Rights Statement, the Oaths standalone, and two pressure test instruments were authored as the manifesto's companion system.
Foundry Circle Pressure Test (Round 1)
The manifesto was stress-tested against 47 AI leaders across 6 objection categories through structured adversarial review. Four failure categories identified. Five companion documents produced as a direct result. The core framework validated with targeted revisions.
Five-Audience Pressure Test (Round 1)
Structured adversarial review across 5 audience categories: practitioner, skeptic, academic, legal, newcomer. Purpose-built adversarial agents — each designed exclusively to attack the manifesto from their persona's perspective — identified weaknesses and shaped defenses against foreseeable objections. One text change resulted. Separately, the manifesto has been carried into real-world engagements across consulting and vCISO work, exposing it to practitioner feedback outside the formal test process.
Round 2 Pressure Tests
Foundry Circle Round 2: manifesto and companions tested as an integrated system. Four objections fully closed, three substantially closed. Five-Audience Round 2: zero text changes needed. C² identified as the highest-utility standalone companion.
Publication Project Established
piqued-pub created as a dedicated publication project under pqdx governance, separate from pqdc-cc (product development). Governance retroactively applied to all prior production sessions via state file retrofit.
Design System and Site
Sessions S007–S008. Visual identity designed: typography, color system (copper for human, teal for AI), ten design rules, dark-only editorial stance, interactive illustration system. Site built across four phases: illustrations, distribution, press kit, and evidence layer.
The Pressure Tests
Before publication, the manifesto was subjected to two rounds of structured adversarial review — first against the document alone, then against the manifesto as a system with its companions. The manifesto has also been carried into real-world consulting and vCISO engagements, exposing it to practitioner feedback outside the formal test process.

47 AI leaders across 6 objection categories. 4 failure categories identified in the original text. 5 companion documents produced to close identified gaps. The manifesto text was revised in targeted response.
Five-Audience Review
Structured adversarial review across 5 audience categories: practitioner, skeptic, academic, legal, newcomer. Purpose-built adversarial agents designed to attack the manifesto from each perspective. 1 text change resulted. Accessibility and credibility confirmed across all audience types.
Foundry Circle
Manifesto and companions tested as an integrated system. 4 objections fully closed, 3 substantially closed. No remaining open objections at publication.
Five-Audience Review
Zero text changes needed. The manifesto passed the five-audience system review without revision. C² identified as the highest-utility standalone companion document.

The Governance Standard
This publication is governed by the pqdx/2.0.0 standard — a project governance protocol requiring recorded decisions, milestone tracking, and concern management for every governed project.

Collaborator Disclosure
The Piqued Manifesto was written by a human over the course of years. From 2022 through early 2026, the principles, the oath structure, the C² methodology, and the production methodology framework were authored, revised, and refined — not with AI, but by the practitioner. AI was present for exploration and research, but the manifesto needed to be written, not generated. The available models couldn’t meet the standard, and more importantly, this work needed to come from its author’s own thinking and voice.
In February 2026, the body of work migrated to Claude (Anthropic) as the primary collaboration surface. This was a deliberate choice: to finish the manifesto through governed human-AI collaboration — using the exact framework the manifesto describes. pqdx for the decision trail. The Piqued Manifesto’s principles for the quality standard. C² for the methodology. The governed sessions, pressure tests, and publication documented on this page were produced with Claude under that governance.
The final production phase is not a disclaimer about AI involvement. It is a demonstration. The manifesto governed its own creation. Human authority over AI collaboration, exercised throughout.
What Your Glyph Records
The glyph proof generated by the interactive illustrations encodes more than completion. It records the shape of your engagement — whether you isolated variables, narrowed possibilities, and explored systematically, or whether you arrived at the solution through undirected experimentation.
Methodical engagement produces visually coherent glyphs — patterns with structure, rhythm, and internal logic. Exploratory engagement produces glyphs with higher visual entropy — more varied, less ordered. Both are valid proofs of completion. Neither is rejected.
The Piqued Manifesto does not gatekeep understanding. It reveals how understanding was reached. Your glyph is honest about the journey, not just the destination. This is UA-5 applied to the reader’s own experience: trust is evidence, not intention.
